Default Speedos or board shorts?

I remember somebody saying that board shorts were not allowed in public swimming pools in France only speedos, any reason why?

speedos = tight ; board shorts = loose (trunks)

Think about it: whatever is in boardshorts might escape; in speedos it's less likely to.

hey, as long as everyone ELSE is doing it! look at it this way, you wouldn't want to be the only guy in a speedo in a room full of guys in board shorts - so why would you do it the other way around!

Well I can see what you're saying about the "health" reasons, but that still just seems kind of funny to me and I agree, I don't like the look of men in speedos, but I guess I don't have to look now, do I.
